Hold Fast

Pastor Jay continues the series on Hebrews with this week’s sermon “Hold Fast” from Hebrews 4:14-16.

Hebrews 4:14-16 (ESV)

Since then we have a great high priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus, the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession. For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who in every respect has been tempted as we are, yet without sin. Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.

We have every reason to hold onto our confession.

Because we have a great high priest.

  • Because he passed through the heavens.
  • Because he is the Son of God.
  • Because he is able to sympathize with our weaknesses.
  • Because through Him we may draw near to the throne of grace.

Parent Connection Questions:

  • Is it difficult to stand up for something that you believe in? Why or why not?
  • Who does the Bible say that Jesus is in this passage of Scripture?
  • How is Jesus able to sympathize with everything that we deal with?
  • Who has made it possible to draw close to God?
